signs you've been reading too much popslash

1) you start to google nysnc, not just in the 'matching names to faces' way you did when you first started reading, but in the 'trying to find interviews so you can get a sense of the group dynamic' way.

2) you begin trying to aquire mp3s of nsync songs AND mp3s of jc and justin's solo stuff

3) you seriously consider trying to track down lance's movie

4) you start hunting for videos to download of interviews with the guys so you can get a sense of their speaking voices

5) you feel a pang of sadness when it's mentioned that JC went to a VMA afterparty alone because you don't want any of them to end up alone -- you immediately start looking for jc fic. because even if he's dateless in rl there are fictional bandmates to love him.

6) you find the band on wikipedia and then you read up on all the guys individually...and you read up on all their signficant others past and present

7) you spend a half an hour trying to find pictures that document whether the 'jc gets hard while performing' thing is canon or fanon -- you are pretty disappointed when your google-fu fails and you think about emailing story authors to ask them (and ask if they have photographic evidence to back it up).

8) you curse yourself for being late to the party because it's much harder to find the gossip sources when it all happened in 2001

9) you have a dream where you are at a party with nsync and also the folks from atlantis and john and rodney are begging you not to hang out with the nsyncers so much

10) you print out your favorite story and read it three times on a cross country plane flight.

11) you find yourself randomly distracted by thoughts of the boys current projects and whereabouts. for instance, at a play, 'i wonder if chris is still doing the punk band thing? and also, i wonder what his hair is doing these days...'

12) you worry enough about jc being alone that you have to put it on your list twice

yeah. my shame is deep. my obsession is distressing. and besides bye bye bye i can't for the life of me bring any of the tunes of any of their songs to mind.

oh, and i totally wouldn't kick you out of bed if you had some fic recs.

your list made me giggle. dont worry, not in a mocking way. *g*

also, back in the day my dad had a suspicion that their albums sold so well due to subliminal messages; after all, 'bye bye bye' essentially sounds exactly the same as 'buy buy buy'. he mightve been on to something.

i admit to having gone through a bit of a boyband phase though i got over it much quicker than most people [it lasted maybe a year] and it was never particularly extreme. i was mostly just excited that there was HARMONY on the radio. and not just two-part.

..i still have a decent amount of 98 degrees songs in mp3 form though. they were always my favourite of the all-male hop-around-in-unison sorts. i think chamber music gave me a certain preference for four-part, plus they had non-singles like 'ave maria' and 'shes out of my life' [both fantastically arranged, extremely well done a cappella; its HARD to match vibrato] that still give me the shivers. chris and i were both rather saddened they didnt keep the a cappella thing up. it was REAL MUSIC. much harder to find in pop.

Hey, stumbled across your post on the still_gay flist, so hello.

I am suffering from the same problems. Apart from;

1) Actually bought the On The Line dvd (as well as the popodyssey tour dvd) and value it for its incredible cuteness. And the Justin and Chris hairdressers sketch at the end of it.

2) Downloaded all the Nigels 11 feat. Chris Kirkpatrick songs I could find (and also the Chip Skylark stuff from Fairly Odd Parents *Shame*)

3) In reference to 7), still cannot find evidence (but is too scared to ask people for it)

4) Am obsessed with the JC singing Until Yesterday with Justine at Roseland (thank the world for youtube)

5) Find myself totally in love with Lance and Reichens love. *hearts*.

6) Heres some fics, and links to random rec pages.

:) Nice sharing an obession with ya.
Bye.

I have this problem, but it's with broadway actresses who have been in Wicked, rather than with boy bands. It's still weird.

I did read some popslash during my QaF days, because quite a few of the good QaF writers were popslash refugees, and so I'd read their other stuff. I never got eaten completely by the obsession, but it was touch and go there for awhile. ;)
